Trash Talking Busy Bee, That’s Me

Another week has zipped past, and I have been one busy little bee.  I’ve finished four pieces all part of the collection I’ve been working on, although the last one is sporting a different symbol than the rest….sooo….one might come to the conclusion that it is not actually part of the collection….make of it what you will.  That collection is almost complete, and other separate pieces have been started, and more are in the planning stages.  Producing enough stock to ply my wares at my vendor booth next month at pagan pride day is hard work yo!

Meanwhile, my geek man got back into playing MagicTG……now I must design boxes to hold and organize his decks and so forth.  Which leads me into starting a new line of box designs.  Now, when I say he’s back into playing, what I really mean is he will be organizing and re-organizing his cards like a fiend….because that’s what he does when he’s not actually talking smack playing, LOL, it’s cute, and one of the many reasons I love him in all his geekery 😉

Amongst my painting, sketching, vendor planning, MagicTG spectating, oh and house cleaning; I caught up on the show Hung…which I think is an okay show, except for the inane need of every character to repeat Tanya’s name at the beginning of practically every sentence they say to her….AND they stress her name!  WHY?!  What is the point of this?  I find it highly irritating.  Otherwise, it’s a pretty likeable show.  It’s no True Blood, Dexter, Weeds, Breaking Bad, or Downton Abby…but it passes the time.  Oh, as a side note I guess, I also finished watching Girls….I don’t really know what I think of it other than wondering if I was ever that ridiculous…..I don’t think I was.  I’m pretty sure I was born wise in every aspect of life.  True story.

Speaking of True Blood…yeah I made that segue….the season finale is this Sunday!  I’m dying from anticipation of what will happen, while also crying that it will be the end until next summer!  It Sucks!  Of course depending on how they end this one, I may not want to continue watching it next season.  I swear, if they redeem Beehl and turn it all around into him being this god forsaken tortured soul getting lost from his humanity, or worse– him having been playing a long con to overthrow the sanguinistas….I will retch and probably cry real blood tears, then possibly write hate mail to Alan Ball.  I mean, really?  Beehl is no Angel/us.  Beehl “the Kang and chosen Jaun” is the bad guy people!  And I fear for the state of minds of these Bill-lovers eagerly awaiting Sookie to take him back….talk about delusional.  Maybe they are airing different versions of the show or something?  Or else they’re handing out samples of Lilith’s blood through certain viewers’ tv’s.  And has anyone else wondered what the point of Nora’s character really is?  Because so much of this season has been centered around her, but yet she’s an insubstantial character, we know nothing about her, and nothing so far has engaged me to like her.  All the characters on True Blood are pretty darn awesome and fleshed out…but somehow this one fell short…what’s up with that?  And how many of us are worried Eric will die sacrificing himself?  It seems very possible if you’re following the alchemical wheels of the show.  Of course that means he’d have to be resurrected somehow, which would be totes cool, if you ask me.  Which you would…ask me, that is.  Because what is True Blood without the Viking Vampire God?  Not worthy, that’s what.  Yeah, so, that’s my rant for the day.

Moving on and wrapping up the week, we took part in the eventful and stressful ritual of open house at the respective schools of our children.  I must say, I’m actually pleased with the teachers we were able to meet, and have high hopes that it will be a pretty good school year.  My eldest’s language arts teacher is ditching their big literature book for individual novel studies each semester, starting with “The Hobbit” for the first nine weeks.  My geek hubby asked if he could take her class too, he was so ecstatic about it, LOL, gotta love ’em.

That’s my week in a nutshell, given to you with the over-use of the word pretty as an adverb and a healthy does of True Blood fan worshiping, cause that’s how I roll.

If you’d like to check out my four latest pieces, and you find any or all of them appealing please show the love and Favorite it, Like it, Pin it, Tweet it, and/or Share it:

Apothecary Love

For some reason I have an obsession with Apothecary chests.  I’m always on the lookout for them wherever I go.  I even keep my eyes peeled for them in the background of shows and movies!  I have an addiction to boxes in general for some reason, but Apothecary Chests really are my “piece de resistance” 🙂  Another reason why I love to call my boxes of art ApotheCurios!  So, I try to get my hands on as many variations of them as I can to paint!

Therefore, my latest finished piece is a Mid Sized Apothecary Chest with 5 Drawers, adorned with my hand painted Celtic Knotwork in Silver on an Emerald Green base color.  I added Silver drawer pulls reminiscent of a card catalog drawer, because I love those too!  This chest is smaller than the Largest chest in my shop, but is taller and has larger drawers than the Smallest chest in my shop.  You can check out the listing for this new chest here:  http://etsy.me/R5LnXW

Lackadaisical and Woebegone

Wow, many days have passed since my last post.  Curious how quickly that can happen.  Hubby was away again, this time for just two weeks, at another installation doing field problems.  I find I get a little melancholy at first when he’s away.  Which usually leads to retreating to my comfy chair and medicating with chocolate and reading lots of smut fanfiction and re-watching my fav shows like True Blood for that Eric Northman eye candy…..while seriously neglecting my painting.  It can take a little bit of time to pull myself out of that slump :/  Hence, my absence online of late.  Thank the gods I managed to steer clear of any head pain while I was absent my rock and helper!  Although, I did have the mother of all migraines a couple days before he left….I thought I’d had bad ones before!  Boy was I mistaken.  This one left me shaky in cold sweats and totally incapacitated!  It must have decided to double up on me so I wouldn’t have to deal with one while he was away!  Thanks for that….I guess…small mercies and all.

But, anyways, he’s back home!  YAY!  Which has me feeling much more like myself 🙂  And my painting inspiration is back on course.  I’m sure he loves knowing when he’s home I paint more….which leads to time away from him–at my desk, and when he’s gone I get nothing done because I miss him O_o  Yeah, I’m not always of the sense making….I’m a water sign…we’re wishy-washy that way…just deal. Okay?

So, I’ve bitten the bullet and decided to be a vendor at our local Pagan Pride Day next month!  So very Scary!  I need to get on the ball and produce more boxes to sell!  I just have to figure out how many of each type of box I already make that I want to have on hand, and then if I want to come up with new kinds as well.  I’ll probably also provide the option to order a customized box like I do on my Etsy shop, since so many people like to customize their own.  My head is swimming in all the ideas and things I’d like to do and wondering whether or not I can actually pull it off in time….queue the nail biting.

Well, I must be off…..painting to be done…..ideas to be had….inspiration to be found….

Thanks for stopping by and indulging me in views and likes….I hope! 😀

Feeling Framed?

If you’re like me it may have taken you years before you ever found the perfect statue for your patron God and Goddess, or Saints to go on your altar.  However, I found many beautiful depictions online that would have been perfect if I’d had a way to display them properly.  And so this idea was born.  To create beautiful frames for my favorite pieces that would make my altar feel complete.

Maybe you already have the perfect statues for your personal altar, but for group rituals you often decide to honor different Gods or Goddesses that you have no depictions of, to place on the ritual altar.  These frames and mini easels are perfect solutions to displaying prints that you can switch out for every ritual.

Obviously these are not the only uses to be found for these lovely items.

The frames can be used to display your typical things such as photographs, works of art, or even special greeting cards you have kept but had no idea what to do with.

The easels can be used to also display photos and cards as well as daily devotional or tarot cards pulled for meditations.  But one of my favorite handy uses is as a business card holder and even as stands for table place settings and name cards for special occasions like weddings or formal dinners.

I’m sure you can find other inspiring ways to use them as well!  I hope you’ll check them out and maybe even let me know what you think of them.  I’m also working on traditional styled picture frames with the typical fold out easel leg.

No rest for the Wicked…

Well it’s been a busy week!  And thank the gods, no more migraines!  I wrangled my home back into submission, caught back up on laundry, brain stormed more box painting designs, worked some more on this blog behind the scenes, imbedded an Etsy shop app into my Facebook fan page, and have been trying to learn Pinterest….Are there classes to learn how to make all these social medias work for you? LMBO.  Oh and I checked out the blogs of the lovely bloggers who liked my last post =D  I thank you guys dearly!!

Yesterday we weathered the sweltering heat for hubby’s troop cookout, last minute notice and all…..whew! it’s so humid out there you can barely breathe when you step outside from the cold air conditioning!  But somehow we managed.  I’ll tell ya, that’s one way to get the kids to drink water!  We’d normally be headed out to the beach today, but I guess we’re wimps when it’s this hot and there’s heat advisories posted.  Really I think we’re both just too dang tired to deal with it today, we’ve been numerous times this month already…sometimes you just need to rest. Beach outings are a lot of work you know!

I’m much too tired after staying up late watching the Opening Ceremony last night.  Anybody else watch?  I already tweeted and posted on fb about my favorite moment, involving the Queen and James Bond!  LOL.  The little history lesson they gave us was quite entertaining to say the least.  And of course I loved all the Mary Poppins-es flying into the stadium!  One of my beloved childhood favorites 🙂  I’ll have to confiscate the main house TV back into my control to catch any of the events airing today….but my major plans at the moment consist of the painting of boxes and working on all these social mediums some more!  Avoiding washing the car or doing yard work is only an ugly lie….such accusations are highly uncalled for!  Really!

Well….off to paint!

Mandatory holiday due to migraine visit

Worst migraine ever today! Didn’t get to eat because of the lovely nausea and now that it’s subsided I’m frakking starving!! Arby’s never smelled so good, no really, it never smells good to me! LOL. But it did tonight! Scarfed it right down…probably gonna regret that tho…..oh well, such is life. Looking forward to actually getting things done tomorrow! That’s the nice thing about migraines isn’t it? Once you’ve weathered a really heinous one, the next day should be an all clear from the gods. Right? ….for at least a week!

Hubby was on a four day weekend after going back to work last week….after 15 days on leave, plus kids on summer break….you can imagine the condition of my house. HA! Or what it would be if I didn’t have a truly amazing husband! Seriously, my dear love is a dream and helps out sooo much….especially since summer break started. But even so, I still have much work to do! (I can never seem to get very much done when he’s home LOL.) Once the housework is out of the way I can work on painting! I have some pieces I need to finish and some ideas to lay out for some sets I need to flesh out, and then some variations on some current pieces I want to recreate….we will see how much of that I can actually accomplish. But, first I’ll have to jumpstart my day with some yoga and then go from there 🙂 Here’s hoping for a glorious migraine free day!

Meanwhile the sandman doesn’t look like he’ll be visiting anytime soon after my impromtu holiday of sleeping that migraine away much of the day. Kicking back and re-watching last night’s epi of True Blood is at the top of my to-do list right now, maybe enjoy some chocolatey ice cream goodness while drooling over me some Vicking eyecandy v-v He was certainly full of snark last night wasn’t he!

Well, later dear friends!
